The worldŁ§s first skating museum in Nanjing

Nanjing, as the World Roller Skating Capital named by FIRS, held several international roller skating events and promotes roller skating vigorously. Nanjing has the title that the world's first skating museum has been completed in Nanjing.

On September 10, 2016, the opening ceremony of the World Speed Skating Championship was held on that day and the first World Skating Museum was officially open in Nanjing. It is located in Nanjing Olympic Museum, covering more than 400 square meters, and attracts young people with sports and interaction elements. On the day of the opening, FIRS Chairman Mr. Araku also visited the museum.

Reporters learned that the museum is designed by the famous Italian designer and the museum mark is SK8, with the homophonic of English word Skate (sliding). And it is divided into five areas, namely Start, Knowledge, Applause, Touch, Enjoy. The first letters of each word are also formed the English word Skate.

According to the relevant person in charge of the museum, the top of Stop is a matrix of more than 1,000 wheels that allows visitors to feel the world of skating. Knowledge area focuses on the basic knowledge of roller skating; Applause area mainly introduces the history and development of roller skating, where visitors can also see the brand of World Roller Skating Capital named by FIRS; Touch area is a major highlight of the museum and visitors have more chance to experience and contact the roller skating. In the visual experience area, visitors can train their own balance ability by experiencing the balance of equipments; In the audio-visual area, visitors can experience music blending with roller skating; In VR experience area, visitors can view 360-degree roller skating film via VR glasses, and there will be an immersive feeling; The last part is Enjoy, which mainly shows the situation of roller skating events in Nanjing.

The museum opens to the public for free from the beginning, attracting a large number of tourists. Since Nanjing Olympic Museum opened to the public for free, the tourists to the skating museum increase sharply. According to the introduction, the current average number of visitors reaches 6,000 to 8,000 monthly. It can be said the museum has a lot of contribution in the promotion of roller skating.

It is expected that the skating museum will certainly receive more visitors during WRG 2017, from 25 August to 10 September 2017. Chinese and foreign tourists can feel the charm of roller skating.
